The Tanne Foundation Award to Marsha Farley Tanne Foundation awards recognize outstanding achievement and are an expression of gratitude to artists for their passion and commitment to their work Marsha Farley, painter and construction artist, uses found objects and remnants from everyday life to create fascinating and inventive sculptures. Her work prompts reflection of how the human and the mechanical world interconnect. A current project, the Music Series, involves imprinted notes from familiar music. In one composition, the subject is Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony where notes reproduced onto Lucite shelves are reflected in a mirrored background creating dazzling reflections: Handel’s “Hallelujah”, Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” and John Newton’s “Amazing Grace” are planned for the future. This bio/description was originally published in 2001 and updated in 2013. For more current information, please refer to the award recipient's website (if provided). |
